You will arrive to the test center 15 minutes prior to your appointment having followed the proper pre-test protocols. Upon arrival, the center will provide any necessary paperwork and bring you back to their space where the test will be conducted. Depending on location, the test will be on either a treadmill or stationary bike. After a warm-up, the test administrator will secure the VO2 mask over your nose and mouth and attach a heart rate monitor. Starting with a slow jog/low resistance, the test administrator will increase the treadmill or bike’s speed/resistance until you signal you cannot continue and wish to stop. You will rest for 2-3 minutes to ensure a safe recovery. This is a maximal exertion test and is highly strenuous.*

A VO2 Max Test is a maximal exertion test, meaning that it places a significant amount of stress on the cardiac system. This test is not considered safe for anyone with the following conditions: high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart/lung problems, a family history of heart attack, injury, or dizziness, shortness of breath, or rapid heart beats during exercise.

Fitnescity offers DEXA, RMR, and VO2 Max tests.
The DEXA Scan is widely regarded as being one of the most proven and reliable technologies for measuring body composition. A standard DEXA Scan with Fitnescity involves lying still on the DEXA scanner for about 15 minutes while the machine’s arm moves back and forth to develop a full body image. The DEXA scan can be used to obtain an initial body composition assessment and to understand how your body is changing over time.
The RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) Test measures the number of calories required by the body to maintain basic functions such as heartbeat, breathing, temperature regulation, and brain activity. This number varies widely from one person to another. A standard Fitnescity RMR Test involves using a metabolic cart and indirect calorimetry, the clinically recommended and industry reference standard of testing, to measure the number of calories burned per day at rest. Whether your goal is to lose, gain, or maintain weight, this information is highly valuable for designing a personalized weight management program.
