Youth Wellness Test Panel — Core

As a parent, this test may be right for your children or teens (ages 10-17) who:

• Have not had routine blood work done recently and you would like to establish or reestablish a health baseline for them to support ongoing pediatric care
• Are overweight or have other risk factors for blood sugar, metabolic concerns or diabetes, including a family history
• May be at risk for iron deficiency, including children who are picky eaters, follow a vegetarian or plant-based diet, or are going through a growth spurt
• Have started menstruating and experience moderate to heavy periods, particularly if there are additional risk factors of iron deficiency such as chronic weight loss, nutritional deficits, or participation in athletic activities
• Are showing symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, new irritability or fussiness, changes in appetite, or eating of non-food items that you’d like to investigate
• Are recovering from a significant illness/infection (such as mono) and you want to check that key markers are back on track
• Experience fatigue, low energy, or changes in activity tolerance
• Are undergoing evaluation or monitoring for known health conditions
• Have symptoms such as changes in weight, growth, or energy levels
• Have a known condition that you’d like to monitor between doctor’s visits

Quest offers 3 tiers of test panels covering youth and children’s wellness:

• Our Youth Wellness Test Panel – Core (this test) bundles three of the most common individual panels (CBC, CMP, and an iron panel) for a basic health and wellness screening
• Our Youth Wellness Test Panel — Expanded includes everything in the Core panel, plus a thyroid function test and cholesterol screening for a more comprehensive view of general, heart and thyroid health, iron status, and metabolic function
• Our Student Athlete Test Panel includes everything in the Expanded panel, plus three additional vitamin tests (B9 [folate], B12 [cobalamin], and D) to provide additional insight into markers that influence how the body trains, performs, and recovers. This panel has extended age availability to cover college-age athletes up to 25

Patient: This test can be performed on patients between 10 and 17 years old. Since this test will be performed on someone less than 18 years old:

• Both parent/guardian (hereinafter "parent") and patient information will need to be provided during test registration
• Both parent and patient must be present for sample collection, the parent will need to have their identification available at collection
• Results will be provided to the listed parent

Sample collection: This test requires sample collection at a Quest Diagnostics location. Collection is not available in AZ, HI, or PR.

Please note: Laboratory testing for children under 18 years of age should always be conducted with the guidance of a qualified healthcare provider. Our tests are designed to support continuity of care, ease of access, and empower families with accessible health information. They are not a substitute for medical evaluation or ongoing care from a pediatrician. Parents should review test results with their child's healthcare provider to ensure appropriate interpretation, follow-up, and treatment in the context of the rest of your child's care. Results are typically available within 1-2 business days of providing your sample - this includes sample processing, testing, and a clinical review before release.

You, as the registered parent, will receive a secure link to your email when results are ready. They will be available in a clear, easy-to-read report. If you have, or create, a MyQuest® account, results will also be available there - and for larger panel tests, you may be able to see individual results as each becomes available.

You may receive an alert call from an independent healthcare coordinator if some of your test results are outside of the expected ranges. Included with your purchase, you have the ability to talk to an independent healthcare provider who can walk you through test results, address any questions or concerns you have, and help you think through next steps.
